Congratulations to Katie Pelletier, our HSES Teacher of the Year for 2019-2020!

Katie Pelletier has been an elementary school teacher for ten years, all of which have been served at Holly Springs Elementary School. She has lived in Douglas County all her life and is a product of the Douglas County School System. Katie earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2009, as part of the PDS program at the University of West Georgia. Four years later, she earned her Master’s Degree with endorsements in Reading and ESOL.

Katie currently teaches kindergarten and has served on the school’s Leadership Team as the kindergarten team leader for the past four years. As team leader, Katie has mentored new teachers and teammates to help them become more successful with their teaching careers.

Katie has served HSES as the Hip Hop Dance Camp Director and Instructor for K-5 students for the past 6 years, as well as the Dance Club Director and Instructor for 4th-5th grade students for the past 3 years. Under Katie’s direction, the Dance Club has performed for Christmas, Veteran’s Day, and Black History Month celebrations.

Katie believes a successful classroom is based on building relationships with her students. She prides herself on building a positive learning community where everyone feels comfortable talking, sharing ideas, and learning to work together as a family. Ms. Pelletier believes a day at school should be filled with memorable moments that connect learning to students’ hearts and minds.
