Hello My Name Is...
Meghan Rathel
I was born and raised in Douglas County, Georgia, and I am the second of four children. Having a father as a preacher and a mother who worked for the school system, a love for learning was instilled in me from a very young age.
I am a proud product of the Douglas County School System. I know first hand the caliber of teachers we have working for our system, as I had the privilege of being taught by many of them. I began my education at Annette Winn Elementary School. It was there that I developed a passion and love for learning. I knew early on that I wanted to be a teacher, and that I was born with an innate desire to learn. My fifth grade year the districts changed, and I went to Lithia Springs Elementary. I then continued on to Turner Middle School and finished at Lithia Springs High School. Upon high school graduation, I attended Mercer University where I received a duel degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education in May 2010. I proceeded to obtain my Masters Degree with a Reading Endorsement in May 2011. I also completed my Gifted Endorsement July 2015. In July 2011, I married my high school sweetheart, Jason Rathel. We have been happily married for 6 years.
I had the wonderful opportunity to begin my teaching career at Holly Springs Elementary School in August 2010. This will be my eighth year teaching. I cannot wait to begin the new adventure of being a Gifted Teacher, here at Holly Springs. As a child, I had the privilege of being served as a gifted student in our Douglas County Schools. I understand first hand the importance a strong gifted program plays in our schools and our communities. I have always had high expectations for myself and my students. I cannot wait to jump into this fun curriculum and challenge my students to achieve their fullest potential and wildest imagination. What a privilege it has been to work with such a talented staff, and to spend each day doing what I love. I am proud to be a Holly Hawk!
