I am excited to be starting a new year with your child in Physical Education.  I have a lot of fun activities planned and a lot to get accomplished in this year.  Physical activity provides kids opportunities for enjoyment, challenges, self-expression, and social interaction.  Increased Physical Fitness improves heart/lung function, reduces body fat, stress and risk of heart disease associated with unhealthy lifestyles.  Involvement in physical activity has been shown to positively affect grade scores of students in primary grades.

Please make sure your child checks their specials’ schedule weekly so that they can come prepared with proper shoe attire and participate in our activities.  Due to safety reasons, if your child does not have proper shoes they will participate in the alternate activity of walking the gym and will not be able to participate in regular activity.  Proper shoe attire includes tennis-type/sneaker shoes. Flip flops, sandals, Crocs, clogs, Toms, boots, Tennis Shoe Boots, Vibrams, or dress shoes are not safe shoes for Physical Education and are not permitted.

A student needs a written note from their parent/guardian to be excused from a Physical Education class.  Please date, sign, and include your child’s full name and teacher’s name on all notes. Please make sure to include the type of illness/injury and how long your child needs to be excused. If your child will miss more than a week, a doctor’s note is required.

I am excited to start my 7th year at Holly Springs! This will be my 10th year teaching Physical Education. I enjoy getting outside with my family, crafting, going to the lake, and watching Alabama football. Roll Tide.
